The garden infront of Crystal

Attraction type: Parks & gardens
Address: Intersection of G.S. Rakovski Str. and Tzar Osvoboditel Blvd.

At the opposite corner to the Russian church is where the garden in front of ‘Crystal’ is located, a popular place for fixing informal appointments.

The Crystal cafe-bar after which the garden was named does not exist anymore but the garden is still associated with the spontaneously formed open-air art centre that was known until recently as a meeting point of dissident writers, poets, musicians, artists and actors.

In the same garden, not far from the place of his murder, a monument to Stefan Stambolov was built up; Stambolov ranks among the most remarkable Bulgarian politicians and statesmen of all times, and prime-minister of Bulgaria in the period 1887–1894.
