Down along Tsar Ivan Asen II Street one reaches Universiada Hall – a multifunctional hall disposing about 3,000 seats and over 1,500 square meters exhibition space.
Universiada Hall is one of the architectural landmarks of Sofia. It was built in 1961 and its name is associated with Universiada 61 World University Summer Games of 1961, hosted by Sofia. This hall is the first big covered multi-functional hall of Bulgaria. Its unique location in the centre of Sofia makes Universiada convenient and easy to be visited from all regions of the capital. The Universiada complex offers the following rooms:
- Main Hall (Capacity: 2,300): Provides all facilities for carrying out sport competitions, congresses, concerts.
- Iztok (East) Hall: Suitable for carrying out conferences, training, chamber performances, fashion shows, cocktails and specialized exhibitions.
- Yug (South) Hall: Equipped for carrying out training, press conferences. Offers special equipment, multimedia, screens, flip charts.
Since its foundation, Universiada Hall has become an established centre of prestigious international and national sport events, congresses, trade and industrial exhibitions and bazaars, concerts and shows. In the course of the years, over 4,500 sport and cultural events have been taken place at the hall.
