Lakes & Fountains in Sofia
Ariana Lake
Ariana lake a medium-sized artificial lake in Borisova gradina (Boris’ garden) in Sofia, Bulgaria. The lake is “B”-shaped, 175 m long and 75 m wide, with a small island at its narrowest point. It is located at the westernmost corner of the park, between the Eagles’ Bridge and the national stadium.
Pancharevo Lake
Lake Pancharevo is an artificial lake in western Bulgaria, at the end of the Pancharevo Gorge of the Iskar River, located at 600 m above sea level between the Vitosha and Lozenska mountains. The lake is located just 12 km away from Sofia, on the way to Borovets resort in Pancharevo quarter, in the suburbs of the capital city.
Boyana waterfall
The Boyana Waterfall is considered the most beautiful and largest waterfall in Vitosha Mountain. The only sound that may interrupt the unique silence and true serenity of the breathtaking scenery is the one of the splashing waters, falling gracefully from 15 m.
The Central Bath (Tsentralna Banya)
Behind the TZUM shopping mall there are a number of interesting historical sites, one of these being the Central Mineral Bath. With its colorful ceramic mosaics on the facades, it is a landmark in the center of Sofia.
Mineral water springs
The city of Sofia was established next to some tracian mineral water springs. Today these mineral springs are located next to the Central bath (Tsentralna banya), Banya Bashi Mosque and TZUM Shopping mall. A new construction lets the water flow and people can drink or take some mineral water at home absolutly free of charge.
