Swingin’ Hall dates back to 1995 when it opened with just one stage.The club wanted to offer the Bulgarian musicians and public a place to gather and share some good few hours of jazz and rock. Situated at the iconic building of the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University, Swingin’ Hall quickly became a hot spot for musical lovers from all backgrounds.
For years it was the only such place in the capital, eventually paving the way for many legendary performances from Bulgarian and foreign musicians and bands. Milcho Leviev, Antony and Georgi Donchev, Vasil Parmakov, Zhivko Petrov, Veselin Veselinov (Eko), Simeon Shterev, Mitko Semov, Mitko Shamov, Vili Stoyanov, Misho Iosifov, Vasil Enchev, Emanuil Milanov are amongst the top Bulgarian musicians who have played and still enjoy occasional get-together’s in Swingin’ Hall.
As a consequence of its legendary reputation, Swingin’ Hall has attracted visitors from the US and Europe including the band members of Oregon, Spyro Gira, Paco de Lucía, Al Di Meola, Ingocnito and Prince who have played on the stage for their local fans.
Today, the stages are two offering different night for every date of the calendar with various genres – jazz, funk, ethno jazz, DJ parties, rock, punk and ska.
